01Match the named entity
The named insured, principal, applicant, or covered entity should match Tommy's Road Rescue, LLC or clearly document how coverage extends to it. A certificate for an owner, partner, affiliate, truck, or unrelated towing company is not automatically company proof.
02Check the current dates
Review effective and expiration dates and obtain current confirmation when the decision occurs. An expired certificate, proposal, invoice, application, binder, renewal request, or old policy summary does not establish current coverage.
03Identify relevant coverage
The requesting party should identify the actual concern—such as commercial automobile, general liability, on-hook or cargo exposure, garagekeepers, workers' compensation, umbrella, or another requirement—without assuming one line covers every towing or roadside loss.
04Read limits and restrictions
A listed limit is not a promise that a particular event is covered. Policy terms, covered autos, endorsements, exclusions, deductibles, conditions, reporting, territory, vehicle use, operator status, and the actual facts can affect coverage.
05Separate certificate roles
Being listed to receive a certificate is not necessarily the same as being an additional insured, loss payee, or beneficiary. When a contract requires a specific status, the corresponding current policy endorsement or issuer confirmation should be reviewed.
06Verify through the responsible source
Questions about authenticity, current status, cancellation, endorsement, claim reporting, or coverage interpretation should go to the identified licensed insurer, producer, bond issuer, or responsible agency through trusted contact information—not solely to a number printed on an unverified copy.
