01Identify the exact configuration
Give the year, make, model, trim, VIN when appropriate, cab and bed length, two- or four-wheel drive, dual-rear-wheel status, engine or EV configuration, suspension, tire size, lift or lowering kit, bumpers, winch, racks, and other modifications.
02Distinguish ratings from actual loaded condition
Find the vehicle's door-label and manufacturer information, but also disclose passengers, tools, cargo, fuel, accessories, snowplow or spreader equipment, a camper, and anything being carried or attached. Curb weight, GVWR, axle ratings, and actual operating weight are different facts.
03Report the drivetrain and wheel condition
Tell dispatch whether it is 2WD, 4WD, AWD, full-time or selectable, and whether a transfer-case neutral or manufacturer transport mode is available for that exact configuration. Report locked, missing, flat, oversized, displaced, or damaged wheels and whether it rolls, steers, and brakes.
04Measure the complete access path
Height, width, wheelbase, turning space, garage clearance, tree or utility clearance, gate width, slope, soft ground, ditch position, ramp angle, and room for the transport vehicle can determine whether the planned equipment can approach and load safely.
05Separate the vehicle from trailers and cargo problems
Report any trailer, load shift, unsecured material, hazardous substance, livestock, camper, or commercial cargo. A tow of the power unit is not automatically authority or equipment for cargo transfer, trailer recovery, hazmat response, or an oversized or overweight movement.
06Confirm capacity and method before assignment
Live dispatch and the operator must match the exact loaded vehicle, condition, access, transport position, securement, destination, and equipment ratings. A website article or model category does not confirm a truck, partner, legal authority, availability, or arrival time.
