01Identify the exact model and installed systems
Provide year, make, model, trim, VIN when appropriate, drivetrain, EV or hybrid status, suspension, wheel and tire size, steering and braking systems, keys, security state, aftermarket changes, and warning messages. A model family can contain materially different transport instructions.
02Retrieve the current manufacturer instructions
Use the owner or transporter manual for the exact vehicle and condition. Confirm approved transport position, tow or transport mode, neutral procedure, low-voltage requirements, parking-brake release, suspension setting, pulling point, wheel support, and securement cautions before movement.
03Report power, keys, wheels, and damage
Tell dispatch whether the vehicle powers on, recognizes a key, shifts, rolls, steers, and brakes; which wheels are flat, locked, displaced, or damaged; and whether collision, fire, water, underbody, battery, or suspension damage is present. Do not force an electronic mode when its prerequisites are not met.
04Protect clearance and self-leveling systems
Measure vulnerable front, center, side, and rear points and the entire loading path. Air or active suspension can change height or self-level even when parked. Follow the model's jacking, suspension, or transport setting rather than assuming the highest visible setting is correct.
05Document finish, wheels, cabin, and accessories
Record existing paint, glass, trim, wheel, tire, interior, underbody, aero, and accessory condition from safe angles. Agree on key custody, alarm state, loose property, wheel-cover removal when required, contact protection, and the approved tire or vehicle securement method.
06Confirm receiving requirements
Verify whether the dealer, collision center, tire shop, storage facility, or owner accepts the vehicle in its current state, has compatible unload access, and can receive keys and condition records. An insurer or manufacturer roadside program may have its own dispatch, destination, and reimbursement rules.
